Dining at Balistidae

Balistidae offers guests the convenience of a full board stay, with all meals prepared in-house by our 2 friendly and talented chefs, Jabulani and ‘Sbu.

 

Sit down to a freshly prepared seafood extravaganza, or sit around the fire with a glass of wine while the chefs work their magic to bring you wholesome and tasty cuisine presented with a touch of class.

At Balistidae, our guests are encouraged to engage with the chefs in determining mealtimes and preferences – to match the weather, mood or to make best use of freshly caught line fish or other locally sourced produce.

Perhaps you’re in the mood for a big brunch, light lunch and 3 course dinner? Or an early breakfast, beach braai and seafood for dinner. The choice is yours.

Our fresh green ingredients are either sourced from leading retailers in Maputo or picked from the lodge’s own veggie patch. Red meat is sourced from leading butcheries in South Africa, whereas all seafood is either self-caught, or sourced from local fishermen on the peninsula.

Dinners always comprise 3 courses – starting either with a cheese and meat board served as a sundowner snack on the deck, or some freshly cut sashimi, a mussel pot, tempura prawns or a homemade soup.

For your main course, the chefs love serving seafood – with either prawns or crayfish served with fresh linefish, calamari, home cut fries and Mozambique style rice. Accompanied by a crispy salad of course.

Sometimes desert is on the menu – and homemade ice cream, frozen cheese cake or tiramisu will keep those sweet toothed guests happy.
